Job Title: Head of Public Relations

  • Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Journalism, Business Administration a or any related field
  • Master’s Degree or specialized certificates are preferred

Direct Media management strategies for the company

  • Ensure the company develops effective media responses through message development and adherence to media policy & procedures
  • Ensure all media releases and communications are of high quality
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Government departments, agencies, media, stakeholders and Q companies
  • Manage and approve the production of all communications materials and acts as the custodian of the COMPANY brand internally and externally
  • Organize the activities for the Events Department to ensure services are provided efficiently
  • Maintain COMPANY’s calendar of events through liaising with key stakeholders
  • Research and execute events in a creative way
  • Manage all required resources to support events

Ensure appropriate and reactive actions are taken in case of deviations from set plans

Experience: •8-10 years of related experience of which a minimum of 3 years in managerial position, preferably in a marine industry

Job Description

External Communications: 

  1. Write copies and prepare layouts for all advertisements, banners, greetings, condolences etc. for local and international newspapers, magazines and publications.
  2. Build and sustain effective working relationships with government departments and agencies, media, stakeholders, and Q-companies (i.e. Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas, etc.) to support company objectives and help meet communications needs.

Event Management:

  1. Organize and manage all COMPANY and Joint Ventures’ events including Ras Laffan Industrial City visits.
  2. Plan, organize and direct the activities of the Events to ensure that services are provided efficiently and effectively.
  3. Ensure proper delivery of COMPANY events, and takes appropriate proactive and reactive measure in case of deviations from set plans.
  4. Establish COMPANY’s calendar of events through liaising with key stakeholders while ensuring compliance with pre-set budget and branding guidelines.
  5. Build and maintain good relationships and external contact at national and international levels with peer companies such as Qatar Petroleum, QG, and other Qatari companies in addition to conferences’ planning & management organizations.
  6. Inspect event facilities when applicable, to ensure that they reflect customer requirements and event goals.
  7. Lead the negotiation of contracts with major vendors that are being dealt with from an events’ management perspective.
  8. Manage the relationship with external event management agencies for the delivery of events, if required, and monitor their performance and take necessary actions.
  9. Research and execute events in a creative and different ways to raise COMPANY’s exposure.
  10. Consult with relevant internal and external parties to determine objectives and requirements of the different events to align event plans with those requirements.

Generic Accountabilities:

People & Resource Management:

  1. Manage section staff by overseeing their performance management, recruitment, training and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence.
  2. Plan the provision of all needed resources to support events, including venue, caterer, equipment, presentations, printed materials, promotional items, staff uniforms, security, etc.

Safety, Health, Environment, & Quality (SHEQ):

  1. Ensure compliance to all relevant SHEQ policies, procedures and controls across the section, to ensure that COMPANY provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.

Budgets and Plans:

  1. Contribute to the development of the PR department budget, through setting the Communications section budget, and monitor its expenditure, while ensuring the optimal utilization of all available resources to protect COMPANY interest.

Job Resposibilities

Key Accountabilities:

Communications Strategy:

  1. Assist the PR Manager is developing PR strategy, policy, procedures and standards in line with COMPANY’s overall business strategy.
  2. Develop, recommend and implement corporate communications strategies, plans and initiatives to improve and sustain a constant corporate image.

Written Communications:

  1. Develop all written communications for the Public Relations Department, COMPANY Voyages (in-house newsletter), COMPANY Annual Report, corporate brochures & collateral materials, reports, press releases etc.
  2. Write and produce all stories, articles and news for external distribution. Review and edit stories, articles and copy produced by third party writers and journalists for external audiences.
  3. Direct the accuracy and content of COMPANY website and social media accounts.
  4. Write and review the COMPANY portal and selects the relevant stories, news items and pictures to be used in reporting the news and current events.
  5. Organize and manage all Joint Ventures’ written communications.

Media Management:

  1. Direct media management strategies for organization and manage relations with local, regional and international media.
  2. Ensure that COMPANY develops effective media responses through message development and adherence to media policy & procedures.
  3. Ensure all media releases and other external communication materials are of high quality and fit for purpose.
  4. Manage and approve the production of all communication material in coordination with PR Manager and act as the custodian of maintaining and monitoring the usage of COMPANY’s branding, internally and externally.
  5. Manage and direct company media monitoring and distribution.
  6. Support the PR Department in crisis communication and emergency response drills/exercises and events.
