Job Description

1. Leadership and management of shift team ensuring application of safe and best operating practices during all the activities and works performed at site.
2. Ensuring that the plant is operated in accordance with agreed Kahramaa dispatch procedures.
3. To identify and investigate faults / problems within the plant then effectively communicating them to the maintenance sections.
4. Preparing incident / outage reports for the incidents / plant trips with recommendations to avoid reoccurrence in future.
5. To lead the daily morning coordination meetings and updating the plant operational activities / issues for the previous day.
6. To ensure that operational preventive maintenance routines are performed in timely manner and history records are updated in ERP System.
7. Responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the plant.
8. Directs and supervises the Control Room Engineer and Shift Operators to ensure safe, efficient and environmentally compliant operation of the plant.
9. Maintenance of records of plant operating data.
10. Maintain close coordination with NCC control room to meet dispatch instructions efficiently
11. Responsible for carrying out 400 kV switching operations and performing isolations and normalization following NCC instructions.

Job Resposibilities

The duties, responsibilities, accountabilities & authorities of Shift Charge Engineer include but are not limited to the following

Safety Management. Ensure that high safety standards apply, at all times, across all areas of site

Responsible for safe, efficient and profitable operation of the plant. Ensure that management instructions, OEM recommendations and agreed Kahramaa / QP operating procedures are followed

1. Responsible for the management of personnel directly within the shift team.
2. Responsible for the management and control of interfaces with Kahramaa and QP to facilitate the requirements of PPA and FSA.
3. Responsible for the maintenance of ISO procedures that are used in operations department.
4. Responsible for ensuring the plant integrity by plant walk rounds and routine checks.
5. The Shift Charge Engineer will report and is accountable to the Operations Manager (OM) for the performance of all of the duties described. The Shift Charge Engineer must complete the job as per these expectations or will explain to the OM the factors responsible for the inability to carry out the responsibilities. Performance will be assessed during annual performance appraisals against a set of defined criteria.
6. The Shift Charge Engineer has the authority to perform all tasks listed. He is the supervisor of the Control Room Engineers, Senior Operator and Field Operators who report directly to the Shift Charge Engineer. This includes the authority to undertake their annual performance appraisals.
7. The Shift Charge Engineer’s financial authority is limited to raising purchase requests which must be approved by the OM.
