Job Title: FITTER MECHANIC

Qualification:
  • Professional qualification in mechanics for example an apprenticeship or formal qualification in Marine like GPIII course
  • Valid STCW Basic Safety Training Qualification
  • Relevant professional qualifications/ certificates such as an Apprenticeship or equivalent in marine engineering.
  • Valid Seafarers medical certificate for the duration of each voyage, stating individual complaince with “Fit for Lookout Duties”
  • Marlins English test of Proficiency with minimum 70% (where applicable) and a good command of marine English.
  • Ability to obtain a US C1D visa or if already possess it.
Age: 50
Experience: Experience of marine industry - eg cargo, tankers and dry dock, 3-5 Vessels

  • A talented mechanic who understands the basics principles of Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices, as well as the importance of keeping our guests and crew safe.
  • Proven practical experience of welding and pipe fitting
  • Experience in machining, fitting and workshop hand skills
  • Ability to carry out overhaul of engine room machinery and other ancillary equipment

Desirable Criteria:

  • Crowd Management & Security Awareness Certificates
  • Experience of working within marine industry

  • Contract Type: Fixed Term
  • Rotation Pattern: 9 months onboard and 3 months off

Job Resposibilities

What are typical duties for a Fitter Mechanic?

  • Fitter Mechanics are part of the wider Technical department and report to the First Engineer and Ship Services Engineer onboard.
  • Fitter Mechanics undertake the repair and maintenance of engine room machinery and ancillary equipment to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations onboard. They also maintain auxiliary engine room equipment, to ensure all services are available and maintain high level customer satisfaction, contributing toward providing unforgettable holiday happiness.
  • Fitter mechanics support the repair and maintenance ofvarious machinery onboard and carry out machining, fitting, and welding operations to a high professional standard.
  • When working within the hotel services area, fitter mechanics ensure all mechanical equipment and machinery remains operational, dealing with any defects promptly. Contributing to the ongoing maintenance in guest service areas such as galleys, laundry’s, pools and other recreational areas.
  • Ensuring all duties are carried out safely and in accordance with company regulations, our Fitter Mechanics will continuously contribute to our positive safety culture and speak up to support safety improvements.
  • Fitter Mechanics also have opportunity to pass on their knowledge to others, aiding other crew members to improve their own understanding, whilst working toward promotion to Chief Maintenance Fitter and beyond.
